On Monday, July 27, board members of the 36th Fairfield Glade Ladies Invitational traveled to the Knoxville Comprehensive Breast Center to present a check for $4,400 to the Kim Rowden Breast Cancer Memorial Fund, a non-profit fund that provides breast screenings and treatment for women without insurance or financial resources. The proceeds surpassed early expectations not only through the generosity of so many Fairfield Glade and Crossville sponsors, but also the players in the tournament.

The Kim Rowden Memorial Fund was established by Dr. Kamilia Kozlowski in memory of Kim Rowden from Athens, TN, who was diagnosed at the age of 25 with breast cancer. The fund provides assistance to any woman in need of screening, diagnosis, and treatment if found to have cancer. It also helps to fund advanced studies of breast cancer.

KCBC sets aside one day in October each year to host Mission Mammography to promote breast cancer awareness. Dr. Kozlowski and her staff screen 107 women who have no insurance. These women line up at 3 a.m. in the hopes of being chosen. The FFG Ladies Invitational donation will be used to help bring the total from 107 free screenings to 150 during this year. The Kim Rowden Fund pays for all these screenings.

In September KCBC will open a new 40,000 sq. ft. facility. The new center will be the largest of its kind in the country.

The Ladies Invitational Golf Tournament raised $4,400 for the Kim Rowden Memorial Fund of KCBC and recently presented the center with a check for the amount. The fifth annual Kim Rowden Memorial Golf Tournament presented by Knoxville Comprehensive Breast Center was the biggest and best yet!  Twenty-one teams played 16 holes on the Tanasi Golf Course in Tellico Village on Sunday June 7th.

A putting contest, sponsored by East Tennessee Clinical Research, preceded the lunch which was sponsored by Aurora Imaging Technology.  Tennessee Cancer Specialists was the cart sponsor and C. R. Bard was the gold sponsor.

Revenue Recovery Corporation was the winning team, followed by Merit Construction in 2nd place and the Cabbage family was 3rd place.  Awards were presented to all the winners.

Over $21,000 was raised to benefit the Kim Rowden Memorial Breast Cancer Fund.  The fund provides free mammogram screenings and treatments for women without health insurance or financial resources.  Because of the successful golf tournament, the Sixth Annual Mission Mammography event will increase the number of free mammograms from 107 to 150 this year.
