Mobile Mammography Screening Unit

The Mobile Mammography Screening Unit is part of our commitment to women’s breast care health. Our Mobile Mammography Service began in 1986 and has been rolling ever since. The Knoxville Comprehensive Breast Center had the first mobile van in the state of Tennessee and was one of the very few in the country at that time.

The Mobile Mammography Screening Unit provides screening mammography to corporations, organizations, church and health communities. Employer commitment to the Mobile Mammography Program indicates a concern by the employer for the well-being of their employees; it boosts morale and enhances a company's reputation as a community leader.

In a woman's busy life, our Mobile Mammography Service makes it easier for women to have their yearly mammogram. Women receive the same quality screening mammogram service that they would have at our central office without having to take time out from work to travel to our Knoxville office. In addition to being interpreted by our full-time breast radiologists, the mammograms from the mobile service are evaluated by the R2 Image Checker, described under Screening Mammography. Every woman receives her results within five working days.

If there is a questioned problem, a woman can be reassured that the questioned mammographic findings can be professionally and thoroughly evaluated (see Diagnostic Services) at the Knoxville Comprehensive Breast Center.
