17th Annual Kim Rowden Golf Tournament

Kim Rowden was twenty five working as a computer analyst for the Department of Energy in Oak Ridge and engaged to be married when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

She loved sports, enjoyed crafts.  She was a talented dancer, pianist, and photographer. Kim lived fully.  Kim inspired those around her.

For three years after her diagnosis, she fought hard and lived life to its fullest.  She played a vital role in the discovery of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes.  Kim was a kind, gifted, loving person person who was taken away too early.

In 1998, Kim's mother and father established the Kim Rowden Memorial Fund to honor her memory.  It is a tribute of hope.  The hope is to allow all women the same care, regardless of economic standing, because breast cancer does not discriminate.  It does this by providing funds for women with little or no resources to have the same breast care that every woman deserves.

Kim's annual golf tournament provides her fund with the resources to help women throughout East Tennessee.  It is a time for friends to catch up, raise awareness and funds for early detection, and have some fun.
