What Should I Expect During My Fitting Appointment?
During your fitting, you will have a private consultation with one of our Certified Mastectomy Fitters. At KCBC, we do not take a “one size fits all” approach. Because all breast surgeries and women’s bodies are different, all fittings are also considered unique at our boutique. Our staff will show you many options for bras, camisoles, and breast prosthetics. While our boutique is open for walk-ins, fitting appointments are highly encouraged to guarantee the availability of our Certified Mastectomy Fitters. We strive to set enough time aside for each guest. Appointments can be made by calling us at (865) 583-1010.
Mastectomy Bras to Restore Your Natural Breast Form
The main difference between a typical retail bra and a mastectomy bra is a pocket integrated into the inside of the bra cup. These cups are designed to hold a prosthetic breast form to match the contour and shape of a natural breast. We have a mastectomy bras with soft cups and molded cups from several leading brands, including American Breast Care®, Jodee®, Anita, Amoena, and Trulife.
Natural-Looking Wigs to Restore Your Confidence After Chemo
Chemotherapy takes a toll on the body, often resulting in hair loss. We carry natural-looking wigs from HairUWear® and Jon Renau to restore your confidence while on the road to recovery. We carry Brian Josephs Lash & Brow Gel to help prevent losing eyelashes an eyebrows due to chemotherapy treatment.
Breast Prosthetics Restore Body Balance for Optimal Health
Even if you haven’t had a complete mastectomy, you may experience a breast size difference requiring a partial breast prosthesis. A breast prosthesis help to restore balance to the body for optimal physical health. Losing a breast causes an imbalance in the body. If a woman goes too long without replacing the weight of a missing breast, it can cause severe neck or back pain. Our certified fitters are trained to help you decide if a partial prosthesis is a right option for you. Not only do we carry breast prosthesis, but we’re one of the only boutiques in Tennessee to offer fully customizable breast prosthetics through American Breast Care® (ABC).
Compression Garments to Reduce Swelling Caused by Lymphedema
Compression garments promote better blood circulation to reduce swelling, and other symptoms associated with lymphedema. We carry breathable compression garments from Juzo®, Therafirm®, and LympheDIVAs®. There’s something for everyone among our compression garment collections, which are available in various styles, colors, and knit pattern textures for your comfort.
Post-Surgical Garments Reimbursed by Most Major Insurance Plans
For those who are in need of a post-surgical garment, KCBC offers one from American Breast Care® that includes a white leisure bra, a triangle puff form, and a pair of drain pouches. The cost is usually covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance plans. Talk to a team member for more details.
Do I Need a Prescription for My Mastectomy Bra or Prosthesis?
While not required, it is highly recommended that breast cancer patients have their physicians prescribe a breast prosthesis and post-mastectomy bras. Many insurance companies will cover some, if not all, of the costs for these products if a physician prescribes them. Patients should always check with their insurance providers for additional details about their specific plan coverage.
